- Those are the rankings of each NFL team according
to NFL2K3. Yes, that took me some time. LOL. Now, I've
put my damn heart and soul into this whole project,
and I'd like to see it work. Truly work on a broad
level. I'm working on the NBA and NHL parts of it as
we speak, and I'm running into the same problem:
fairness. I'm making a league that is going to end up
being won, not by good players, but by good teams. In
the NBA, the Lakers, Kings, and Mavs will be in the
championship no matter what. So that means, basically
the guy who picked FIRST is gonna win. That may be
cool if this was just some throw-away league, but I
want this to be a "franchise" of sorts. And in order
to do that, I have to find ways to create parity - so
a guy picking late will have a shot.
-
- First and foremost, from now on there will always
be 20 or more teams per season and 16 games. No more
doing a league with just 10 people and 10 games. The
payoff just isn't good enough for the $15 you put in.
Everyone deserves at least $5 for getting into the
playoffs. It sucks that that won't happen in season
one. If we can't get 20, there won't be a league. Now,
here's the good news: the money payout for Season 2
and onward.
-

-
- As it is in Season 1, the dollar amount is your
reward for reaching that level, it doesn't continue to
add up. That's still an ASS-LOAD of prize money and
everyone gets a little taste. Now, here's the final
part of the fairness plan that simply HAS to be
done...
-
- There will be a payscale for every team from this
point on.
-
- (cringe)
-
- Someone asked me today, "So you want me to pay the
same for one of the remaining teams, when others got
the Raiders?" It made sense. And it showed me that in
order for this league to continue, I have to make a
payscale. I know this is gonna piss some of you off,
and I assume some of you may not want to participate.
That's simply a risk I'm gonna hve to take to keep
this a fair league.
-
- The Teams in black (25+ average) are
$10.
- The Teams in green
(15-25 average) are $15
- The Teams in blue
(10-15 average) are $20.
- The Teams in red
(1-10 average) are $25.
-
- Now realize, that if you're
one of the 5 red teams, you will be in the playoffs.
You would have to be 13 out of 20 to miss the
playoffs, and with a team that powerful, that just
isn't going to happen. And I'd bet that the final 8
teams in the playoffs will contain those top 5 red
teams. So there's your $10 difference from
$15.
-
- On the other side, the $10
teams. You pick these teams because you'd just like to
have some fun for 16 weeks in a killer league, with
stats, videos, newsletters and be part of a great
community. The chances of you making the playoffs are
very, very slim - but you'll have a helluva good time
for your $10.
-
- The $15-$20 teams are the
meat of the group, and will make up most of you. I
assume the best players will pick one of these teams
as you feel you can do the most with your strengths
and weaknesses in each category, and save $5-$10 - and
still win the $75 at the end. That's your
call.
-
- In the end, the payout
justifies your pick. You have a better chance to win
more money with a better team. So choose
accordingly.
-
- Now, please give me
feedback. I assume some of you may want to change your
teams, or even quit, but I know that most of you
will understand this. I'm trying to make a foundation
for a successful league. I hope I've made
everything clear, and you feel like it's a worthy
league and setup to spend your money on. I've done
simply everything I can to make it
fair.
-
- Now, onto the end of Season
1. We have 5 games remaining, 1 will be played
tomorrow and 4 on Saturday. Saturday evening we will
play the 2 wildcard games. The 2 championship games
will be played either directly following - or on
Sunday...and finally the Superbowl Sunday
afternoon/evening. Get ready for a great
weekend.
