11:45 PM - 1:30 PM, Wednesday, September 11th, 1996:
The big meeting. New PD, Darryl Parks. Nice guy actually. Looks even younger than Bill. He may be. Cannon came in and stared at him right next to him and made everyone laugh. It was really funny, but most people (not including me) were laughing at him because we know how paranoid he is about his job. I just thought he was funny. The three big things he said about the station, Darryl, was 1) If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. 80% of the station is perfect. 2) More promotion. The station isn’t promoting enough. And 3) Wants to make the station more fun to listen to. That’s where my ears perked up. If he listens to one hour of my show he’ll have to see how good it is. Anyway, nice guy, good pizza, and I’m pumped. Let’s see how I feel after 2 months. November 11th, 1996. Okay.

1:30 AM - 4:30 AM, Thursday, September 12th, 1996:
Went in to edit down my father’s appearence tape, make a Play it by Ear face-off song and to finish 4 Boyle tapes. Cannon comes in and says: "You making an audition tape?" Ha. HA HA HA HA HA. He is truly more paranoid than any single man I’ve ever met. Everything on face value seems so damn innocent, but it isn’t. He was hoping I would leave. Not yet Cannon, not yet. Things went smoothly, and that’s about all I have to say about that.

2:20 AM - 5:20 AM, Friday, September 13th, 1996:
Went in and finished The Boyles 19 with a raging headache. Felt like shit. The family is trying to get Lester’s memory back and get him to call Cannon. Pretty funny. Felt compelled to go in, and I’m glad that I did. Got some tapes done and am realizing this will take some time.

6:00 PM - 6:15 AM, Friday - Saturday, September 13th - 14th, 1996: SHOW 184
What an absolutely killer span of 12 Hours. Unbelievably good. The best show, and most entertaining I can get. If you didn’t like this show, you never will... Ok:

Produced Munch, actually just ran the board, and Joe Namath was supposed to call and he stiffed him. Ahh well. Found out the high speed dubber does the tapes at about 4X the length! So 8 1/2 minutes a side! Whew, that’s nice. Ended up with 21 Boyles tapes done by nights end. Burgundie came in for The Boyles 20, she is what brings Lester’s memory back. Didn’t finish it though, I’ll get that tomorrow. The Reds kept me off until 12:45... Bummer. But that made the show packed. Online was a big success too as I premiered the song for it.. But I will now quit and whine for funds. Boyles were good, great Top 9, and I was funny. Oh and Aaron was in studio signing all 100 copies. Life is good. Then Conners looks at my box of tapes then looks at me crinkles his face and shakes his head. The same look you would give someone who pulls in front of you on the highway, and as you pass them on the left you look over like what an idiot. I said: "Yes sir?" "You missed the point." "Uhh what point, I never heard a point, I guess that is the point..." All this as he’s walking away and I am heading out. What the fuck is up with that. Is he so arrogant that he likes belittling people and confusing them? I don’t get his arrogance. Ahhh well, an asshole overall I guess. I will never be like that. Never. Ethan also told me he got a new 5 year contract. So we were guessing prices right... I said 125,000 a year and Ethan is sure it’s over 200,000. I’d say $150,000 a year is about right ha couldn’t have signed a 5 year 1 Million Dollar contract. No way. He’s a local DJ. Nope. Alright. Oh, and went out with Eric to breakfast for the second weekend in a row. He’s a good guy. Bought a Boyles tape... so he’s a great guy :-)

8:00 PM - 7:15 AM, Saturday - Sunday, September 14th - 15th, 1996: SHOW 185
More than just a bad night. I'm just plain sick of the complaints. Some lady, it may be an old caller Mary in Johnstown called up Conners on Open Phones after my show and had a list of things she hated about my show. How it’s a 5 hour commercial. All I do is play my music. And all I do is advertise my CD and my Boyles tapes. Then Anthony faxes and agrees and proceeds to be his own belittling self. I’d retype them for this but I haven’t the energy or the resources with in this HUGE EGO of mine to write bad stuff about me. You know, I do so much fucking work. I am so absolutely unappreciated. It’s starting to really wear me out. Joe came in and said that I was very talented and I should get someone to pay me to do all the stuff I do. And I said: "Joe, I have to get out of here... I can’t do this anymore. I’m working so incredibly hard and I won’t hit $10,000 this year." That on top of the fact that I have FREAKING LOSERS WHO FAX every goddamn show. I found a 2 page fax about me on BC’s desk addressed to BC. It had nothing to do with him! All about me! Hello! What the fuck? How much of a loser is AG? And does he think BC really gives a shit? I’m hitting a brick wall. I need out. I can take only so much until I am beaten. I’m not in the right market on this station. Christ my demographic is 13-90. How do I win? I can’t anymore, and I’m telling you, one more nasty fax from AG and I’m gonna fucking hunt him down. Oh well. The show was slow. Hang on, I gotta see when my last good Sunday was. This whole summer has been bad, but I said last week was good up until 4:30 AM. Either way had some great debates and then dead... Great debates and then dead. Play it By Ear was good. And at 4:30 I sat there and defended my show. Read AG’s fax and explained my philosophy behind the show. 2 callers called to defend me. Then on the other hand NOONE listens at 4:30 AM. Been seeing job postings in the lounge. Afternoon talk host in Cincinatti. Do I want to do that? Do I want to make that commute every day? Hour and 45 minutes. Fuck do I want to move? Can I afford to move. Am I ready to leave? (sigh) As little as money means to me, I need it for the freedom. I am happy with my show, but it’s like I’m living in a box. My little audience and my little show. The segments on that show are BIG. They don’t fit. I need to move. But for now I plug away. I need to talk to Darryl. I need to go to sleep.
