Meeting #9. They just keep getting better. So Bill is in a meeting with the GM, nice guy: Perry Frey. Bill asks me in with them, and wow. Perry thinks I'm the shit. Says I have what it takes to be "Big Talk Talent". I said thank you, but when he kept going I felt a little awkward. They were so nice to me, I can't believe it. Asking me to stay with the company. "So, will we have you for a couple of years?" Have I created this much clout, or am I being naive? Who knows, I'll brush it off for now. Then went into Bill's office, and it was one good thing after another. Liked what I was doing, extremely impressed with the no-hitters (that I've now lost track of), it was truly great. I asked him about when I was due for a raise, and he said it's usually after a year, but he'll get me that within the year. Hello! I think it's like $7.00 an hour! I've only been working there 5 months! Oh god, this is what I need. Of course, it's not making me love college any more which has truly been a drag lately. I HATE IT. I WANT TO QUIT. I WON'T, BUT I HATE IT. I hope it gets better, I'm off for a month on November 22nd. God that seems like forever.

11:00 PM - 6:00 AM, Friday - Saturday, October 20th - 21st, 1995: SHOW 66
Another week, another letter:

Mr. Adam ?,

In the wee hours on Friday morning, I could not sleep so I turned on the radio to your station. I enjoy WTVN radio, but this time I was so disgusted with a caller, I don't remember his name, but he was rude and very vocal. You on the other hand handled it like a pro. If I had the number of the station I would have called. I have never written to a station before, but I wanted you to know I am with you. The man didn't know what he was talking about and was very nasty. It is hard to work with the public as you do, but you handled it very well.

Keep up the good work, and you have my support.

Thank you for the many late night hours of pleasure you give.

Yours Truly,
Mary Elizabeth Moore

Oddly enough, this was written on my birthday, and the caller in question I feel was Michael. She's talking about the show on the 7th, where race was the HUGE topic, and blew me away. The lady who wrote this was older and had hard handwriting to read, but nonetheless it was nice to get the letter.

Anyway, tonight was no-hitter #?, it's truly unimpressive, but this was a little different. A lot of topics for the night. Topics that you usually don't get into on all nighters. Welfare, the economy, social security. It was fun. Oh, and get this: I said I was hungry on the air, and two different people came and brought me food. It was amazing! One guy brought me his pizza, a security officer, and he gave me his card in case I got sick. Then, Dave from German Village went to Taco Bell and bought me all sorts of stuff. Isn't that cool? I still can't believe it. Well, I didn't get sick, but I would like to get a hold of those guys and thank them, I didn't have the time last night. It is also so nice to get letters, I love to hear that people are listening and supporting me.

9:45 PM - 7:00 AM, Saturday - Sunday, October 21st - 22nd, 1995: SHOW 67
I went in early and redid my BWF promo. It's now a song. Made some other carts, but still didn't even touch Coffee Talk. God these take a long time. An odd thing happened tonight. I basically made friends with Michael. Yes, the super-freak. He was on, and I made it quite obvious that I hated him, and I said so on the air. Then I kept him on for awhile and we talked a bit off the air, and he even apologized for last week! He is a fundamentalist Christian which just wouldn't work as far as a relationship, but it's nice that we made up and he won't shoot me as I walk out of the building. Another no-hitter, which is nice on a Sunday, next Sunday is daylight savings time and I get to work an extra hour. Some old lady called up and totally belittled me about that too. I said it was rough because I won't get to sleep an extra hour, I'll get to work an extra hour. She said no, I'll get to sleep. Then she said "You're intelligent Adam, you should be able to figure this out," then hung up! What a nim-rod. Here's where my age comes in. If I were Cannon she would have stayed on and he could have proven to her she was wrong, unfortunately since she knows I'm younger she was condescending and hung up. Either way what a total idiot. Think about it, I'll work an extra-hour.

11:00 PM - 2:00 AM, Sunday - Monday, October 22nd - 23rd, 1995:
Ran ESPN, produced Cannon. I was so goddamn tired I thought I wasn't going to make it. But it's good money.
