I've done it! 4 years in a row with a documentary released!

Still don't know what that dude was saying...

...but yes - it's done! That was a pretty packed 5 days. I'll get more into what the release means in two weeks but I thought I'd explain what the hell I did that was so difficult when this movie was essentially finished in 2010...

Copyright, copyright, copyright. The biggest probelm with doing The Journey in an absolute vacuum in 1999/2000 is that you really just were showing shit to your friends. So you use a Beatles song because... who gives a fuck. Video online didn't count, because no one was doing it.  And even once it did count? I was hosting it on my own for 7 years... I wasn't really a target - you'd have to know me to find me.

10 years later I put together the movie and then went to submit it to festivals and decided to tackle the beast that was the copyright issues... It was overwhelming, so I decided to build a deck:

What I love about this particular entry, is it's the transition from Volume 1 to Volume 2 in a nutshell. Pushing the previous 10 years was just too painful and overwhelming so I gave it all up and started building. Was married 3 months later, found out we were pregnant a month later... and BOOM - I become construction man and my creative world became GolfKon, then the Delorean...etc. It's actually an amazing decade that I can't wait to tell 2010 me. It was so fun shooting 2020 me... good stuff. This entry is exactly 100 entries before Vienna is born. Amazing.

Of course thanks to Fastest Delorean, I have a film distributor and strreaming video is the NORM. Not just viable, it's the preferred method of viewing content. Amazing. So I started piecing it all back together - added a new voice over - redid all the audio for 2000 and 2010 Adam and really just labored over the pacing and what to include. My final feeling is that it's just too damn fast. This is easily a 4 or 5 episode series. I fly past soooooooooo much. I cut up the songs SO much.... but it's certainly entertaining and your head is spinning - and you watch it to the end...

...presuming Amazon even accepts it. In February of this year they announced they were no longer taking any new non-fiction. They then infamously took all my stuff off Prime though you can still purchase it ('cause so many people purchase streaming movies these days - sigh - ). So we're attempting to label it "Fantasy" since the concept is me going back in time to tell myself the whole Journey. Longshot, but it could work. If it doesn't? Whew. This is relegated to Youtube with ads, Tubi TV... random streaming places like that. Complete whitewash. I really wish I could sign some deal with one of these streaming services so all my content is on their platform and they just give me the room to release a doc per year. Maybe something to look into. Because this shit sucks.

The movie doesn't however, and I'm totally stoked for people to finally see what I was made of from 2000-2010. I'm sure I'll do a few interviews, but as is usually the case - I'm so locked into the next project, I'm not sure I'll have the stomach to keep trying to get press. Most likely it will be when both volumes are done and available - because man, after you watch the first one you REALLY need to see that fucker catch some breaks....

...and catch some breaks I did. Whew.
