Entry #17

Hmmm. The Boyles transition to FM isn't completely a smooth one. Not that The Boyles were wholesome at 'TVN, but something just doesn't fit and it's tough to put your finger on it. I think it's just the overall theme of the FM Late Show. It got this raunchy at 'TVN but it somehow seemed... man I just don't know what the difference is. "Cheeseburger in Paradise" on WTVN was an original, this seems like a facsimilie.

I guess it's heart? My heart doesn't seem to be into these like 'TVN. I'm more interested in seeing the next Listener Bit and even more than that - this is a different crowd listening. At 'TVN it was slower. The Boyles for 7 minutes was a sit back, close your eyes and soak it in. CD101 was 10 times faster and it just seemed out of place to slow it down to take in a story. Because of that the pacing was off and the themes always had to be sexual as opposed to every now and then.

Interesting really. I include them only because I like to witness the fall as well as the rise. The next one though, actually does rise to the 'TVN level, and maybe into the Top 20. Robert's Job however does get a nod for the wonderful sound effects for the sex change operation. That alone makes it worth the listen - oh and Johnny singing to Bowie.
