9:30 PM - 6:15 AM, Friday - Saturday, January 10th - 11th, 1997: SHOW 222
Wow. My first Angela-less show in 9 months. No one noticed. Since she’s missed so many damn shows, it was like Leon was filling in like normal. Ha. Everyone will catch on in a couple of weeks. Maybe tomorrow. Ths show was sloooooooow until 1:30 when Tyrone on a carphone called in about racism. A topic we haven’t touched on. 3 hours later... It was awesome. The infamous Mike called up. Glenn joined the fray. I loved it. At one point, Lester called up, and I went back and forth from the phone to the mic. Nuts I tell ya. It came off great though. Did Mind Trap, and that took us basically home to 6:00. Afterwards I went to Tee Jayes with some people online. It was fun. Damn, one more show and I’m done for the weekend. Then my last week of freedom. I hope sparks fly with Cannon and I. If they don’t, I may bore myself to death.

8:00 PM - 7:15 AM, Saturday - Sunday, January 11th - 12th, 1997: SHOW 223
As I’m driving in I hear the beginning of Dave Elswick’s show. They brought in a talk talent for what it says on the schedule just an audition. Nothing special. He’s just a talker. He had a great open, and the competitive side of me took over, but then he just droned on. His voice sounded great though. Looks old sounds young. Either way, it was at that moment that I realized that it could be me, not Cannon that Darryl is trying to push out. Paranoia? After his: "I’d hate to have to take you off the air comment" - NO. The reason I say this is because now I’m completely replaceable as talk talent. Darryl made it clear that me being Cannon’s producer was the priority, and with ESPN radio and guest host talent on the weekends, they can take me off the air much easier than they could when I was doing overnights. No one wants to do talk overnight, especially on the weekend. There’s my value. Christ I really don’t think Darryl listens to the show. If I don’t somehow get Cannon’s spot in the coming months, I bet I’m taken off the air. JUST A PRODUCER. I would leave. Period. It may sound illogical, but think about it. "Adam, we’re bringing in Rob Calvert for a couple of hours on Saturday, can you go on from 11-2?"...and so on. The second Darryl made it clear about what is more important, everything fell over. And working my ass off on the show is freakin’ meaningless. The listeners love it, hell, even the people who work at the station say it’s great, but I do not think Darryl listens. Greg the newsguy told me he thought I could be a morning host and making $100,000 a year. He says I’m that good. It’s great to hear, but my intuition really hasn’t failed me much. Oh well. The show. No one has even asked about Angela. Oh and get this...right before I go on the air I get a call from BJ Patton - remember him?

11:05 AM, Friday, June 2nd, 1995:
After performance class, Buckles pulled me and BJ aside and told us personally about the WTVN job. BJ is the weekend overnight DJ at B97. I guess he must be good, but he's annoying as hell. Buckles said to get a tape to them as soon as possible. I thought I could do one today, but I was too tired and went home.

8:00 AM, Monday, June 5th, 1995:
Getting ready to take my performance final, and I find out BJ got his tape to them Friday afternoon, with a resume and a cover letter. I just about shit. He's got it. It was basically between us two. I hadn't wanted to drive up to Otterbein over the weekend, and now I lost the opportunity. After the final I went and made an aircheck, drove home and typed up a resume and cover letter.

2:45 PM, Monday, June 5th, 1995:
I drove my stuff to WTVN. I actually worked at QFM earlier this year (they're in the same building), so I knew the lady at the front desk (Becky). She was excited that I may work there again, and when I said to drop this off with Mike Perkins (Operations Director) she pointed me out to him. So I actually got to shake his hand introduce myself. He thanked me for being so prompt, which I thought was odd since BJ beat me by three days, and said he would listen to the tape with Bill White (Program Director) tomorrow.

2:30 PM, Tuesday, June 6th, 1995:
Meeting #1. ...I also asked them about BJ and they sort of laughed at me like "oh, well, uhh..." like he sucked. Mike said that he had puke on his voice, and that DJ's at B97 seem to do that. Anyway there is absolutely no competition between me and him. I said that he had more experience than me, and Mike said not for long. It was a great meeting.

Guess who my new producer is?!! I can’t win. At least he’s serious about radio, and won’t fuck around, but holy shit is this guy annoying. He's that kid in school that just makes you want to...quit school. LOL. He's not that bad, but he just has a certain laugh, and a certain aura around him... whew. He came by and was talking about running my board.

He was serious. Not that I’m the super board op, but I have 85 carts and run the show almost spontaneously. Come on. So is he my producer? Or my screener. Christ. This all starts next week. So the show. Good flow all night. More letters, so I made a new song and bit for The Late Show Mailbag. A great Boyles #34, Lester has to get a job. Replayed the Top 9 List that caused controversy last night. Online was good, but not as good as last night. Basically a really fun night. Did Trivia at 4:00, and the end of the 3:00 hour waned a bit, but overall good. One more weekend of overnights, and then... Jesus, I have no idea what’s going to happen.
