Entry #39

Aww, imagine that. A parody song that has nothing to do with sex. And as a result a song that rarely got on the air. Ha! That's the Late Show...

Anyone who knows me knows that I tend to hang onto things. I wear the same Ireland shirt I got in 1991 almost daily in the fall/winter and if I have a good pair of shoes I wear them into the ground. I had these Birkenstocks since '91 and they were falling apart so bad that it was just time. :-( Strangely, a big moment for Adam - and one worthy of a song.

Also - Del Amitri's song is friggin' catchy as hell. The bridge harmony is just wondrous. I don't feel I sang this that good and goddamn I wish I had the backing tracks because the instrumental part I'm singing over is sooooooooo busy. It kills the subtlety of the song. But it's still cute (something sorely missing from The Late Show at times) and had to be included.

THE BIRKENSTOCK SONG
PARODY OF DEL AMITRI'S "ROLL TO ME"

Think of all we've been through together,
It's been 7 years I just can't believe,
The time has come to let you both go,
The right time to let you go free, let you go free...

You both say that we're gonna make it,
But you're making me fall to my knees,
There's something wrong and I just put my toes on it,
The right time to let you go free...

And I don't think I have ever seen two soles so in despair,
And if I want to walk the night through, you two won't be there,

So don't try to deny it flattened babies,
You've been down so long you can hardly see,
You're long overdue, for birkenstock heaven,
It's the right time to let you go free,
Let you go free, let you go free, let you go free...

And I don't think I have ever seen two soles so in despair,
And if I want to walk the night through, you two won't be there,

So think of all we've been through together,
It's been 7 years I just can't believe,
The time has come to let you both go,
The right time to let you go free,
The right time to let you go free,
The right time to let you go free...
