A 4 Journey God Strike!!!

An event that has only happened once before (although when there were only 5 Gods it was a bit more impressive), there is a 4 Journey God strike. And good golly it's about time. Now rarely is Hollywood this sincere. It's almost always who you know and then everything gets put in front of a funhouse mirror for TV. But I swear to you this is what happened:

Donna wanted to take down all the popcorn ceiling. I warned her for months that not only is it an incredibly difficult job, but it was most definitely hiding flaws that we could not handle ourselves. She was gonna get through it and find herself over her head, we'd then have to call someone in to redo every ceiling in the house for thousands of dollars...and we just don't have the money. When the ceiling came down, and it was indeed hiding a myriad of flaws, she proceeded to try and "fix it" for days before curling her lip, walking up to me with a little girl smile as if to finally say:  "I'm done, we have to call someone." During which I had pulled up the carpet against my better judgement, the floors were a WRECK and we realized twice that day... "We have to call someone." Before we called someone Donna got an idea while watching HGTV (a four letter word for me until this point) to write into the show "Over Your Head" about this very situation. She told the whole story and admitted with exhaustion "I'm in over my head."

They agreed.

She got a call back from a producer within days and after a couple interviews and pics, they came by yesterday to tape the first in a series of packages about our project and are gonna help. Ha. There's still a few more steps to go through, and we assume we won't start filming the remodel until January, but the producer mt with yesterday loved us and was completely positive. We should get a final "yes" in about two weeks. How ridiculously random is this? My thoughts past the "glee" of it all are this:

It's kinda like a crack dealer that owns a methadone clinic isn't it? They're the reason this shit happened in the FIRST place. LOL. "See how easy this is!" they yell. Then you do it, destroy your home, and they go: "Awww, are you in over your head? We can help that!" Hahahaha. I'm joking of course because we're the benefactors of it, but you can't help but laugh at the irony of it all. It's certainly job security on their part. I'm certain people will screw up their homes specifically watching our episode. Ha.

But again, I'm totally kidding - this is AWESOME and we really were in over our heads. The other cool thing for Donna is that this is gonna be a half hour show devoted to HER. At the beginning one person in the couple (me) sets it up - then the whole show is the other person (Donna) getting help from the experts and doing the project. Then I come back at the end in awe of her expertise (when in reality the experts usually did it all - lol). The reason it's so great for her (which she just doesn't believe me on) is that it's just a brilliant showcase of her being funny and attractive. Something that is sorely missing from her current acting reel. Woah, that sounds really shitty - Ha! No the majority of her roles in South Africa were heavy drama, abused drug addict stuff - looking absolutely wretched... this will round it out showing a lighter side and showing just how beautiful and personable she is. To get this type of national exposure after having your SS card for a matter of days is just extraordinary. So keep your fingers crossed that they liked the package and this moves ahead QUICKLY. :-)

Now onto part two of the incredible 700:

Ha!!!

So a couple weeks ago Donna and I helpd out Paddy with a short film he was putting together playing newscasters reporting on the phenomenon of "Baby Fighting". Couple days ago he emails me and says it got picked up by wired.com and they did a little article on it. :-) How cool. Gotta love the internet man.

Donna and I are actually gonna do a short film about the game "Cranium" that I wrote, and this actually got us excited about putting that together. It's fun working with her and in this one we again don't play a couple (a la Up & Adam) and it's quite fun. In all honesty I don't think we look like a couple in the LEAST on-camera. LMAO. Funny how that works.

You think that's it? You think the Journey Gods would let that be it? Hell no. Check this out:

So Crooked X signed a deal with MTV. They're in the new videogame Rockband (think Guitar Hero, but with drums, bass and vocal), they're gonna have their own special in the spring on MTV which will act as their pilot for a full-fledged reality show showing just how badass they are, and are in talks with The Early Show to do another story and performance. That folks is why signing with the McGhee-Proffer Media Group was such a big deal earlier this year. When you have a management company of their level behind you - it is literally a few phone calls and meetings away from big-time and these kids just keep rockin' all the way to the top. I couldn't be happier for 'em.

So where do I come into all this? Well in the old regime, I was the guy who would take this over, but now of course it's up in the air. I still have contacts at CBS and we're trying to figure something out, but as you know this would be quite the reminder of how good the talent was on Living Room Live and that ship has sailed. It seems unthinkable to me they wouldn't take ownership of this, but stranger things have happened. Time will tell.

I've also been talking quite a bit with the people I worked with at CBS trying to put something together for... well something. Absolutely nothing concrete - but the bottom line is we're all kind of in this weird space and I have a feeling if we put our heads together we all bring a piece of a pretty big pie. It all stemmed from the "Screaming From the Valley" entry (#696) and me just telling them: OH COME ON ALREADY. What are we sitting on here? We'll figure something out. I have a feeling it'll be an uphill battle to do this in December, but - I hope by year's end I have a pretty clear direction. We all know we were onto something, it's just a matter of lining it up.

So there you have it. How on earth did this all come up? It's just crazy how the round numbers work. For those who don't wanna go search out the biggies:

100 - Last entry of the first year. Yes incredibly the entire year was exactly 100 entries.
200 - Getting a check in the mail for $1600 from a car insurance dispute that saved me and Jess.
300 - Adamazon.com. A hugely influential moment in the Journey. Seeing how much I had accomplished so far is probably what kept me going at a very difficult time.
400 - Astoundingly this fell on April 1st and wass the announcement that I legally changed my name to Adam "4tvs" Kontras. All totally true at the time, but we ended up not filing in California, and the option was not there for Ohio. Oh well.
500 - 30 year fixed on the house. Staying in LA for good.
600 - My mom finally visits after 7 years! Huge moment for me. (CeBe introduced)

...and then a plethora of ones that fell on tens throughout The Journey. Well we owe it all to Carl, The Number God. Hopefully he strikes again before 800. 750 would be nice.

;-)
