(The Journey Project 010 - VRLOG 194)
7:59 AM, Tuesday, October 30th, 2025:

INTEGRITY'S A CUNT.

Only reason I like this song. LOL. I feel like I'm the only person who understands that line and it makes me laugh. Oh what a time this was in The Journey...

Believe it or not this was during a HAPPY time when I was looking for ways to finish the Egos script for the Comedy Central Pilot Audition in 2009. A writing exercise that would consist of pacing, taking showers, cleaning the house - desperately trying to find the pieces that made it all work. At some point I sat at the piano with a drink... and this craziness came out. I'll embed the original for this one...

The entry explains all the allusions but to put it simply: even I knew that I was gonna be a miserable famous person if I was alone. October 2009 was the second time in my life I was sure I was really gonna get a shot in showbiz (I didn't unfortunately) and literally one drink opened up a part of my brain that most decidedly knew it wouldn't bring happiness but I was so exhausted from the decade I didn't care. "Susceptible to joy, but I'll settle for a fan".

The remake is guitar driven and honestly - it kind of erases the honesty of the whole thing. I like the Irish jig part because it's just fun, but since I can only (barely) play rhythm guitar, it just doesn't feel like my song. This was always my concern with producing some of these songs was you end up sanitizing it. But it's an interesting exercize and I'm glad I did it. This shot is cool as fuck in VR180 though...

In the end however this to me is a true Journey song where the original just captures a srange moment EXACTLY as it felt and I will always be attracted to the original because of that.

Alright the 10 October songs are done! Now we slow down to just one every THREE days for November.

Jesus.
