(The Journey Project 000 - VRLOG 182)
12:01 AM, Thursday, October 9th, 2025:

It could very well be that the past 3 years was just the universe trying to remind me of what I was trying to do all along when I built this studio. It's hard not to look at it like that...

...it could also very well be that I'm so focused on "The Lemonade Life" that this is just my pattern: make awful things that happen to you fodder for the next adventure....

The truth is, I have no idea what's happening or why I'm so freaking happy and so focused and having literally the time of my life - but to say that on my 50th birthday is not remotely what I thought I'd be saying or doing... just a few weeks ago. I'm in the middle of a whirlwind of character changing shit that happens in The Journey sometimes and I'm just enjoying the ride. So buckle up!

Whew. I'll just post the voice-over and then try to explain everything:

I believe that hidden in the thousands of entries in the Journey is a live theater show incorporating music and video that’s never been done before. I wrote well over a hundred songs in a dozen genres working through the stories of my life, but they were never produced, never pushed - I simply uploaded a video of me performing them to an unpublicized site and later on an unpublicized YouTube channel ‘cause that accountability is how I kept going…

You’ve seen about 20% of these demos if you watched the two Journey films, but those were only the songs that furthered the main story… the best songs? And I mean, beat-you-over-the-head-why-were-these-hidden-holy-shit-Adam-why would you follow any other talent other than songwriting… good songs? Yeah, no one’s heard ‘em… until now.

In an effort to make that theater show a reality with a band, orchestra and video presentation showing those original demos and storylines, I’m going to be re-performing every song, live to the camera in one take with fully produced background tracks to see what sticks.

That’s where you come in: for the first time in 25 years, I’m asking for you to subscribe. I need your likes, I need your comments I need you to share what you think is special and help get eyes and ears on this content.

Starting tomorrow on my Tik-Tok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and DeoVR channels I’ll be uploading 10 performances a month for an entire year. I’ve color coded the songs into 6 different genres so you can easily skip the types of music you don’t like and find the stuff you do. Each video includes the entry number and date if you want to know the backstory and I’ll be filming everything in Virtual Presence, so if you have a headset and want to sit in the studio with me while I perform, have at it - but the point is getting this music shared: so pick your favorite app and subscribe.

I know you don’t think I’m talking to you right now, but really, YOU are the only way this show happens. I believe live music and theater is all that anyone is going to trust to be real in the future, and The Journey Project just might give me a shot at being part of that reality.

Hef thinks I'm crazy. He laughs though. I finally showed him Adam & The Egos on the Price is Right so he now understands I'm the strangest person he's ever met. And I will say this again, publicly, Virtual Presence is not over. However...

...it really, really, really feels like:

-my SOUL announced "Where You Once Belonged" in November of 2021 about recording music and I started buillding this studio.

-I then spent months struggling to write songs because life was pretty awesome.

-Something told me in September of that year to buy the VR180 camera and devote my entire life into making that a business.

-The 3 years that followed was some of the most tumultuous, stressful shit I have ever been though.

-annnnnnnnnnnnnnd here come all these songs pouring out of me and we're right back to where we started.

And of course today I'm announcing ALLLLLLLLLLLLL the songs. It's 126. It's a LOT of editing, producing and performing that I've spent an entire month doing and holy shit was I was out of practice in a big way. It's coming back... but it's hard. As you guys will all see starting tomorrow, what makes this so hard is the workflow:

First, crafting the backing tracks for all of these songs is some of the most intricate editing I've ever done (which is saying something after 35 years). I will eventually do a video on how I'm using Suno AI because there's a MASSIVE misunderstanding on what's happening and people are just abusing it and putting out absolute slop. That's obviously not what I'm doing, I upload me demo to Suno and tell it the type of song it is and what I want - and it fills in the blanks. I can then download those instruments separately. I usually have to attempt it multiple times and then edit all the parts into a what I want the song to be. It's tedious as fuck and honestly? I could just play the bass parts on my keyboard... but holy fuck does it sound better this way. It has made me want to perform live with real musicians so bad I can barely fucking sleep. I keep envisioning this stage show - AHH.

So then we come to the performance and video - this is where we really enter a logistical nightmare: each VR180 video shows the original entry bar/date/year from when I wrote it, the original journey video with a song clip, and one of 6 different color coded music genres that it corresponds to. Then in the performance I overlay the original video and attempt to sync it up to my live performance (even though I only use my new audio) to give people an understanding that these songs did indeed exist before.

Then of course I perform it in one shot, no edits - live to the camera. In most shots you can literally see it recording live within the frame (especially in VR180). Then I have to piece that all together and render it for VR180, then re-edit and re-frame it vertically for TikTok/Instagram. Upload it to YouTube/DeoVR and TikTok (all with different thumbnails) and I'm not done yet! I have to caption the TikTok videos and then once they go live, download that captioned video and re-upload it to Instagram/FB because fuck my life.

I just do that every 2-3 days for an entire year and see where that takes me.

<gulp>

Which means I will be bugging everyone - a BUNCH. I don't have a choice. It's my only shot for this to go viral. My YouTube channel has been shadow banned for years so I'm not exactly sure what to do there.- it seems insane to start a new channel and start over for these videos, but maybe I have to? No idea. Honestly it's pretty cool on TikTok - the music is all that really matters. The color coding will be awesome on TikTok beacuse there's 6 colors and the arrangement is in rows of 3 - so in the future if you just want to hear Funk/Jazz - you can easily scroll down and skip every other row and watch what you want - or just scroll 6 times. Logisitically - holy fuck. Like this is a spreadsheet of EPIC proportions LOL. And to rotate it all perfectly? Pop/Funk/Ballad/Rock/TinPan/Folk? Oh and to have each genre have a DIFFERENT camera placement and lights so it actually feels different for the viewer in a 72 SQUARE FOOT SPACE?

Mother of fuck. Happy goddamn Birthday Adam - welcome to your 50s. LMAO. Oh and finally for every single one of those songs? An entry bar and all that entails AND AN ENTRY.

<throws hands up>

And none of it would've been happening if not for The Raiders. In fact my original folder was entitled "Raiders of the Lost Art" (which I'm very proud of btw). I needed all of that awfulness to push the new songs and then technology advancing to a point where I can produce them like THIS? Fuuuuuuuuuck.

I'm in Heaven. Best birthday ever. Christ wait'll you hear the first song tomorrow...
