Man it's been awhile since something has sucked me in THIS much. If you follow this with any consistency - I'm good for one or two videogames a year. I'm just so busy with family and The Journey (and of course that whole career thing) I have to choose my games wisely. Last two were Indiana Jones in VR (though that was like 2-3 days) and No Man's Sky VR which was quite a bit. However what's happened the past 10 days has been craaaaaazy.

EmuVR is basically a VR housing for your emulation/rom games. Ya know, that illegal stuff that you can do, but that I never did because I'm happy to pay and I actually have all those old games. They'll be passed onto Cam... and on we go. However EmuVR is something very, very different: it's just a bedroom and you can put the TVs and user generated content (UCG: CG virtual models of consoles, etc) anywhere you want. Like Animal Crossing, but photorealistic. And goodness, I'm not sure this is even feasible without my 4090. I know for damn sure that thing heats up like I'm rendering 8k60 raw footage any time I'm in the room, so probably not. But the result? Again, photorealistic. So you spend days just setting up your room, finding the consoles and ROMs and testing everything. All while watching whatever you want on TV. You can cast your own PC screen or just watch your movie files in the TVs. Watching Cheers on an old 80s TV is particularly amazing...

So I've spent the last few days just building everything. Collecting the UGC and learning the code. Even started working through Unity to create my own UGC. The reason? This is the actual future that NFTs and other people were trying to pull early. These virtual assets have actual value. In fact, I value my virtual GameCube and games more than the ones I have in the attic. But I digress, there's gonna be another entry about that.

No today is about finding someone's arcade that they allowed us to download, building my own version and eventually buying an arcade stick. Like a crazy intense one that also pairs with Quest VR games. So I unboxed it and did a bit of a walk-through in VR180...

Surprised how well that works in headset. You don't even mind that it's flat on a TV...

...but as I mentioned above, I really need to make a flat video essay about those digital assets and how they will affect us all once the glasses are like Meta Ray-Bans. At that point the line between reality and virtual worlds will be so blurred, you honestly won't need the physical space. Your brain won't know the difference...

Crazy times...

Oh and as you may have guessed, still no actual word on when the Dodgers are releasing anything. Still waiting on a Japanese voice-over and a place to upload. Ugh/
