I mean, you can't say I ever rest on my laurels...

Although I could have easily shown Pete one of the many reels I've produced since it's just to give him an idea of what I'm shooting tomorrow, I of course chose to make one catered not only to him, but the way I think he can best help move this format forward. If you have a Quest 3 and bring this up on YouTube VR (or DeoVR) you will be seeing this exactly as he will 24 hours from now...

Man, when he said that quote in his interview after he was announced as the Raiders head coach I stopped it, called Talya in, and replayed it. "Don't be the best at something, be the only one doing it."

DAAAAAAAAAAAMN. If that doesn't apply here better than anything has ever applied, I don't know what does. So of course I had to include that.

Of course, there reason this is such a big deal is that A) he is CLEARLY a decision maker and B) I'm not only showing him a reel, I'm shooting his class at the Collisseum and will also be able to show him THAT. It proves that I'm not full of shit and just showing him someone else's work. I personally LOVE that because I'm sure I've been in meetings where people took that headset off, looked me in the eye and though: "Fuckouttahere you did that." So a built-in double meeting? FRICKIN' GOLDEN.

Now the point I was trying to make for this presentation that's a bit different than previous ones is that this is a value to the team itself, simply to capture moments whether they're released or not. In order to pay for the budget of course you release some things to the public for sponsorship money or even premium monthly content... but you can basically just be documenting your team for future use and have it all paid for by someone else. It's an angle we've spoken about in various meetings, but this really drives the point home.

And of course the final reason for showing the reel before the shoot is it allows you far more latitude for when you're shooting. They understand why being a bit closer is a plus and are even playing TO the camera more because they understand they're talking directly to someone's head. It's a win-win-win.

Sometimes I envy the reader... they get to find out what happens in the next entry.

PS - well, maybe - come to think of it, my Zoom call with FanDuel in NY is at 11am, the shoot is at 3pm - so who knows what tomorrow's entry will be!?!?!
