- Christ it almost
took me a week to write this... an entry that will
CLEARLY be locked. I just sent a follow-up email
and now just have to admit how WILDLY disappointed
I am in Meta. Shit, maybe it's not Meta... but
just incompetence in general.

- So last week was
the big Meta Zoom meeting. The introduction happened
on March 7th, and it took nearly a full month to set
the meeting with the department head... and then they
didn't show up.

- They postponed the
meeting 10 days to include someone on the department
head's team... and then that's the only person who was
there. In my introductory email I linked a flat video
(the futurist) as well as a VR180 video (The NFL
Pitch) and referenced the NFL Reel (which is
private, but I can link them within the headset).
None of this was watched.

- Didn't click on
the flat link, didn't put on their headset to watch
the pitch. Not even sure this person read the email,
they just knew they needed to be on the zoom call
because their boss blew it off.

- Ahem.

- Then proceeded to
tell me they would consider pitches for licensing
future videos. For example the Pete Davidson podcast
they would be happy to cover production costs and
would consider a talent fee. I mean, I guess
that's good - I passed that onto Pete's dude...
but they haven't actually seen ANYTHING I've
produced. So it's clear this is just a
paint-by-numbers thing. Nor am I certain this person
could assess the difference between good and bad
considering what is presently on the Meta TV channel.
This is
NOT A SLIGHT TO THE FILMMAKERS
- it's just a product of new technology and no
defining rules. It's actually an exciting time where
people are experimenting, etc. It's what I've done for
a year and a half. But the cream has to rise... and I
need people to realize that -
BY ACTUALLY VIEWING THE CONTENT.

- They also said
they'd pass along my videos to the sports media
department as well as someone at ESPN which of course
perked my ears because that's whose merging with NFL
Media and goodness do I need them to see it from
me before NFL Media. It's quite clear they're trying
to make me just "a camera man" and produce everything
in house. In fact as I write today, I'm certain that's
what Billy and Thor planned on doing all along. That's
why they were preparing the Apple pitch together
without me (did I mention that? Ugh), why Billy
got the equipment and most recently why Thor didn't
want me to mention anything NFL related to
Meta.

I wasn't even under contract with you guys, and
now I'm supposed to not mention what I produced?
Really. REALLY.

- It's an ugly game.
This is the bad time. No way to beat around the bush.
I'm not as depressed as I was in January, but make no
mistake - there's no positives to this year. Bally has
fallen off the planet - no other contacts have merited
ANYTHING and I'm completely spiraling. Thankfully I'm
getting some Delorean gigs or I'd be in some serious
shit right now.

I continue to push because... it's just what
I do: but make no mistake, this isn't working.
There is NO light at the end of this tunnel... which
means I need to keep going past all the curves and
hopefully see it.

- That's kinda neat
in VR180. Man I really need to focus my mind on
more creative content. I'm so busy documenting that
I'm not really experimenting as much. Soon,
soon...
