It's hard to believe this, but it really is true. This is the first time I've ever spoken about The Journey in an interview... and it's a complete story. You can tell just by my excitement and literal pride about the project: it feels worth talking about now...

...of course by complete, it doesn't mean over... I'm over 3 years into the next volume, but these 2 volumes complete an arc. It works. Finally. And Meachem is a good cat to talk about that with...

...it's also the first time that I know the reviewer "gets it". Before the docs, I knew no one could really know what I was talking about - it's thousands of entries, you know? Fuckouttahere. But these two movies? Oh yeah... it's all there. It's sped through, but it's there. So now I actually can't WAIT to talk about it. Oh and we mentioned Rusty, but I just have to talk about that night.

So yeah, Rusty wanted to watch The Journey and it was kinda late, but the kids wanted to watch them too. All 3 hours. It was a Friday night so we figured why not. I ended up sitting behind Rusty as he sat on the couch WITH my family and it was this truly surreal feeling. I wrote about it on Facebook...

"After watching volume 1 and 2 back to back with Rusty Locke last night… you can’t convince me that my life isn’t presently in an alternate reality.

The difference between the two 10-year periods is so startling it feels fake. As if in 2010 I just made some shit up. I know I joke that my motto is refusing to let bad shit happen to me (turning every negative into the starting point of a future positive), but when you watch it all back to back? It 100% feels fake. Like complete fiction.

I’m absolutely floored by this and never truly appreciated it until last night watching it with someone who knew very little about the story. So I sub-consciously just sat in his head and imagined what he must be thinking…

What a wild way to experience 20 years."

A complete out-of-body experience for me on a couple levels for sure. Sometimes it's tough to be an empath... often its wonderful. Every experience feels new when you can so easily sit behind someone else's eyes.

Good shit. Enjoy the talk... SUPER NINTENDO WORLD IS NEXT!
