- Only the
responsibility of The Journey could stop the nearly
two weeks of non-stop play. And honestly, it didn't
stop it. Just made us document it so everyone could
actually see the game that has clearly saved our
family. I don't even know where to start with how much
it has meant, but here's a clip of us all screwing
around in the game...
-
-
- The magic of this
game is delayed gratification. Things are on a
real-time clock, they take full days to complete and
every single day since this game came out we have all
had something to look forward to every morning.
-
- I mean, think
about that.
-
- Every night the
kids got to go to sleep excited about what would
happen when they woke up. They jumped up and turned on
their Switches and their little island had a new shop
or a house upgrade or a visitor... something that they
couldn't wait to see. Now, granted we're in the
minority as each person in our family has their own
island and we can all play on those islands at the
same time as well as fly to each other's islands. For
most people? This is turning into a nightmare.
Nintendo made it so it's one island per switch so
people with one console can't really start their own
game. It's the only game like this. It's a massive
issue and has sadly soured the game for many people
and it's understandable. We knew of the requirement
and were so die-hard we didn't care: we were prepared
with 4 switches and shelled out the ridiculous amount
for 4 separate copies of the game. So ignoring the
other poor bastards for a second...
-
- HOLY SHIT THIS GAME IS PERFECT FOR
US. My productive issues (which are well documented)
have a home now. I've completely paid off all of my
upgrades and will get teraforming tomorrow which will
allow me to completely rip up my island and start
over. I will average 10-12 hours a day for the
forseeable future as every single thing you do takes
an entire 24 hour cycle to complete and you can only
do one thing at a time. JESUS.
-
- But that's the
magic. I cannot believe my kids are going to sleep
like it's Christmas every night now. They
BOUND out of bed to see what happened while they
slept. They're learning math, reading responsibility,
item management, planning, delayed gratification... ad
infinitum. It's like Nintendo created a game for
children 6-10 to learn how life works while being
quarantined and unable to go to school or anywhere for
that matter. We're all still basically on Spring Break
so there's literally nothing else to do. Cam is
suddenly reading like a champ and it's seemingly
overnight. I just cannot say enough about this game
and what it has meant to us. It has made the
quarantine, dare I say... wonderful? Like I've never
had so much fun? Other than the obvious weight-gain
(when I was already at maximum capacity - lol) it's
the best thing to ever happen to us? I mean the whole
Delorean thing needs to be addressed (porbably in the
next entry whenever I stop playing for a few
seconds) but since I saved everything like the
car was gonna explode any moment, I'm pretty
good.
-
- So anyway, gonna
get to sleep.
IT'S A NEW MONTH TOMORROW. New
FISH! New Bugs! Teraforming! Yahoo!!!
