Meta. I think that's the term for this. But I have a feeling in the next 5-10 years, this is going to happen more and more. This new group of vloggers that are making tons of money and entire careers out of YouTube... they're gonna run into me. They're gonna be interested in who the first vlogger was. And they'll seek me out. And they'll see this old man. Who finds all of this bewildering. Because while I was vlogging about THE REAL world, and an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT medium (TV) - the internet BECAME THE MEDIUM. And they will watch all these videos and think "how the fuck is THIS not a famous vlog?".

And I will tell them "Because I never tried to make it one. I was busy doing other shit. The vlog was just my personal diary that I rarely ever shared."

It's weird. This dude (Le Drib on YouTube) is famous enough to make a couple thousand a month and have a LIVING from a vlog. Incredible man. More power to him. If that shit had been around when I started?! Oh my GOD - I totally would've done this shit. By the time I got all my vlogs on YouTube it was 2009. I was already 10 years in. I was doing TV... other shit. I'm old. I like TV. I like production values. I like big crews and great sound, etc. I've done it by myself for 20 years. I have zero ambition to be today's vlogger. But... I get it. I had their ambition 18 years ago when I started it. I lvoed hanging out with this dude. He found me through a mutual friend (Chad Kapper) and I'm glad he did. I'm proud of the work it's been to be "The First and Longest Running Video Blogger" and for that not to be bullshit. It's real. That shit was hard in 1999 and 2000. And I did it and still do. Here's a bit from his video blog:

Love seeing someone else's take on me. Refreshing. And he got some ice cream from that FUCKING TRUCK that annoys the hell out of me every summer night.

Yup, I'm the old man alright. ;-)
