Thanks to news of not shooting Geeking Out this week (which is a wonderful break as the last 5 days have nearly killed me), I'm able to sit and write this entry. I'm still gonna continue building like there's no tomorrow because this could pop up at ANY time and I don't even think I'll be done a WEEK from today as it's just a ton more complicated than I realized, but I will take a break tonight and post this video...

Hard to not see that video as if we're 10 years past looking back. Historic moments tend to do that even when it's the present. So, yeah, politics...

I'll play the game on Facebook every now and then, but I have purposely kept it out of The Journey because, well, I'm probably sick of it from Facebook. And to boot? There's nothing to really say: people making false equivalencies with these two candidates are fucking idiots and I can barely give them enough headspace to speak with them. Nor write about it here. Trump is what happens when conspiracy theories are given the same weight as fact. Trump's entire candidacy is built on that mindset and ironically what everyone hates about Hillary is built on even more conspiracy theories. It's nonstop and the media cannot figure out their role in our society to save their lives. Information and context. That's it. That's all they're supposed to do. Tell us what's happenig and give some historical context or precdent to the information so we can properly lodge it in our brains. They're so goddamned busy trying to balance the sides (surprise: they aren't balanced) they get lost. It isn't bias to say Trump is an unprecedented buffoon. That's what he is. He's a carnival barker who doesn't know SHIT about foreign policy, doesn't know SHIT about how domestic policy works and can't sit still to hold a thought in his head without blurting out something insane. There is no precedent for it and that's exactly what should have been said from the beginning. His supporters are lunatics and because the media continually tries to balance him with her? The mainstream of America just makes a choice between one or the other. Most people don't know political history or how any of this works (you know, why people still think the primaries were rigged)... so they just see what their choices are and feel they're awful and pick one. They are uninformed and what they see online makes the outlandish mainstream. Everything is equal. Facts mean nothing next to rumor. NADA. It's hardly worth talking about...

...and, I'm not the biggest Hillary fan. But I will admit that it's completely superficial. She comes across as less than genuine and it annoys me. Her filter is so strong that I never feel I'm hearing her. Now, the feminist in me screams: "WONDER WHY THAT IS, ADAM? Maybe it's because she's been in this world for 40 years and can't fucking do anything without getting railroaded by bullshit rumors and innuendos? So she has to become a robot to survive!??!!?" Then I feel bad. Then I turn her back on...

...and my skin still kinda crawls because it feels phony. A viscious cycle to be sure. But the REAL truth is, none of that has ANYTHING to do with voting. She'll be a great president and has the potential to knock shit through harder than Obama. She's got connections to everyone and can leverage her power old-school in a way Obama was apprehensive to do. She's at heart a policy wonk that knows how to work legislatively. Those people make incredible leaders because they get shit done. Rarely do they have the abilities Obama has to be vulnerable and talk so freely. Strangely, (can't believe I'm saying this), Bush had that. W. Policy wise he was clueless and everyone else kind of took over, but you believed you were getting his heart at times. I rarely, rarely, rarely see that with Hillary. Some of the town halls or evvvvvvvvvvvvverey once in a while in an interview. But her speeches are just not there. I mean, Michelle Obama made me CRY. I mean, CRY. She made me believe in all of this again. I have been so put off by just how stupid Trump supporters were and I heard Michelle's speech and I believed we could still continue to do good for people. Barack was obviously Barack because goddamnit he's Barack... Hillary? After that video I shot with Vienna I listened for a few minutes... and then had to turn it down. I'd get the highlights later. It's just not her thing. <shrugs> What can you say. She will be a fantastic president.

Of course, what it means to Vienna right now is that she likes the Katy Perry song and was confused as to why this old blonde lady was on TV instead of Katy Perry. Wish I had video taped that. HA. Vienna is a bubbly little 3 year old girl and will always know a world where either a black man or a white woman has been president. Weird.

<<Also, please note that I'm acting like it's a foregone conclusion as a complete defense mechanism against anti-intellectualists actually taking over our country. I can't handle that reality right now>>

Vienna is what I'm most excited for: her future. Where it's just a foregone conclusion that she has the choice to do whatever she wants. We will never rid ourselves of mysogyny or racism but we'll paint them into such a minority that they have little effect. Then again, the newest strain of feminism is ripe with all sorts of contradictions. Curious as to how that plays out during Vienna's generation. The strain of stupid is stronger than ever...

...so yeah, there goes my hope. HA. Not today. Today I'm happy for my little girl and the world she has ahead of her.

Alright, tomorrow the building continues...
