- 2:25 PM, Sunday,
April 17th, 2016:
-
- ANNNNNNNNNNNND HERE COMES THE CRAZY.
This will be locked like a MUTHA FUCK so
AWAY WE GO. Let's do a timeline so
I can collect my fucking thoughts.
-
- -Monday, March
28th - meeting where they pitch me two ideas
(actually, 2 genres) they think would work. Ask me to
send them info and ideas, I do so on Wednesday
the 30th. They respond with: "We will review and get
back to you really soon:)" That is still the last I've
heard from any of them.
-
- <blink>
-
- - A week later,
now Wendesday the 6th, out of exhaustion from hearing
nothing I write: "So I kinda can't stop thinking
about these concepts, show titles and seeing the shows
play out in my head... is there any time frame for
this I should be waiting for? I'm pretty anxious to
bounce ideas off everyone..." To which, again, I hear
nothing and write the last entry from the Saturday
AFTER that pretty much letting it go... but
wondering who owns these ideas? I added
EVERY DETAIL AND held back some good shit.
Uhm...
-
- -On Friday
morning, the 15th, honestly out of an ornery sense of
"how much more obvious can I make it that you're being
unprofessional and this is ridiculous" I
write:
-
- Subject: Did I
misunderstand?
-
- Hey
everyone,
-
- It's occurring
to me I may have misunderstood... I thought we were
throwing ideas back and forth, trying to get a pitch
ready for Jeff? Are you guys just doing all that on
your own and THENNNNNNNNN if it's a go we start
developing the ideas?
-
- ...because man,
my mind is REELIN' ready to go after our meeting
nearly 3 weeks ago. Just let me know! I really am
confused as to this process...
-
- Adam
-
- And remember, with
my hand-dandy sidekick app I know EXACTLY when
different people read these emails. All 4 opened it
within an HOUR on Friday. Still nothing.
-
- To which now, even
if they do respond?!??!? Do I really want to work
with them? I get being back-burnered, shit is
hectic and I'm a low priority - but you don't develop
talent like this. Come on. YOU PITCHED ME
FERFUCKSAKE. I'm kinda interviewing YOU. And
I gave you a ton of stuff with ZERO response. Why
am I doing YOUR work? How can you possibly not respond
with ONE sentence in all of this time? There's 4
of you.
-
- I think it
comes down to this, you let them drown. HA! That's the
entry video. You just let them drown and move on. As
we learned in 2009 you need a DEAL to get a DEAL and
then you go back with the offer to the original peeps
and put THAT fire under them. What's odd here of
course is that THEY brought me in. They wanted to
develop two shows around ME. So
ANSWER AN EMAIL. This is 2016 man.
DID YOU RUN OUT OF YOUR FREE HOURS ON AOL?
WHAT THE SHIT. UGH.
-
- I need to
call Mark and see what he thinks. I think we just
take my two ideas and run the same way he did with
Hats & Minigolf. They can't own the GENRES they
pitched me, I added
EVERY SINGLE DETAIL about the show for
fuck's sake. It's my goddamned backyard and car - let
them sue me, I guess. Only thing I ever
signed was the inital contract to allow them to
VIEW the Hats & Minigolf reel. Then they
said they passed. <shrugs> Oh well. It's clear,
I move on and get another production company to
do this shit and let Collins Avenue drown. What a year
so far.
-
-
- I don't mean to
skimp and use an old song, but holy shit sometimes an
old song is what has to happen next. I'm tying
everything together with that bullshit when
I dealt with Comedy Central, Weller-Grossman, 3
Arts and Paradigm. Thankfully I have other things
to focus on but I can't help but ask myself if
I really, really want this. A big part of me
feels like I find a production company that wants
to bust ass and move mountains no matter how small.
That's me actually.
-
- I'll see what Mark
says. At least I know he's honest.
