8:45 PM, Sunday, September 27th, 2015:

What an exhausting haze of a day. At The Gamble House for a Delorean shoot at 5:45am and then barely make it to Vienna's birthday party at 9:30am to try and help prepare for the onslaught of toddlers at 10am. Whew.

I'm of the opinion that Emily Post had it right with that etiquette rule that you have only 1 more child than the age of the birthday boy/girl at the party so the kid can still be the center of the day as opposed to an insane free-for-all where the kid gets overshadowed. However there's one problem...

...no one else is of that opinion. So if your kid is used to going to these massive events with 15 kids and 30 parents, it makes no sense why their birthday is so different. It's too bad, because Vienna was CLEARLY happier when all those people left. She's shy to begin with and there were literally 40 people at our house. It was nice that we could have it at our house because of the room in the backyard and the kids did seem to dig it. We also flipped the couch around and it made for a ton of space inside... but the bigger point is Vienna basically sat in a corner and said maybe 5 words until people left and as you can see at the end of the video was back to her silly self when opening presents because it was just the 4 of us.

SO WILL SOMEONE PLEASE LISTEN TO ME FOR HER 4TH BIRTHDAY?!?!?!?!

...or not. I get it. It's a catch-22, but I think we're now relegated to a big play place where Vienna can just feel like she's part of a playground and only hate the ever-loving fuck out of it once the whole damn place starts singing to her. Of course the truth is? After they left, for the rest of the afternoon Vienna talked about what had happened like she loved it. <throws hands up>

It's all a crapshoot this parent thing. Why even worry about the long-term damage? We all get some. LMAO.
