month ever.
3:35 PM, Wednesday, December 31st, 2014:

I guess if you end the year "knocked-the-fuck-out" sick, you must've done something right. I certainly gave everything I had to 2014 and this video tells it all...

...man that last shot worked out so well. Such an incredible cross-fade.

It's funny, the script is really the entry:

When you start a year with a 15 month old and a 1 WEEK old, your ambitions take a back seat. All you want to do is survive. And for the first 3 months that's all we did. Talya and Cam took half of the house, while Vienna & I took the other. That way I'd get a full night's sleep to handle Vienna and Talya could sleep when the baby slept. It was actually quite an enjoyable few weeks... and then the avalanche started:

My friend Andrew had just opened a movie theater outside Houston and was going to be in town for our March Madness GolfKon event. I finally saw an opening to make GolfKon charity events. I asked if he had any charities he wanted to donate to and lo and behold, he did. There would finally be a charity & business attached. I started contacting every famous friend on Facebook for this and future events and Claudia Wells responded. Humorously of course...

And the DAY after this announcement?, the guy with the Delorean announces he's in dire straits and is selling the car. I freak out. I contact him and consider maybe my mother-in-law buying the car and starting a business, but his asking price is too high. Intrigued I start looking at other places and find a builder that if I supply him the car? Can pull it off in around 8 weeks. With adrenaline pumping, we buy a car in Memphis, have it shipped to the builder and then shipped to LA in time for the Memorial Tournament... which was then covered by CBS. And that's when things got hectic...

Suddenly Mayor Goldie Wilson is the spokesman for my business, RentTheDelorean.com and we're all on the radio talking about it. That's not the craziest part. My man Mo'Kelly gets an interview with Weird Al Yankovic and invites me to be in studio and I end up taking the elevator down with Al, tell him about GolfKon. He thinks it's awesome and gives me the greenlight to do something UHF themed and before you know it I'm building a giant wheel of FISH in my backyard. WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAT? That leads me to having the HOST of Wheel of Fish, Gedde Watanabe, appear for our Labor Day Event - he's totally into it! Except he's out of town that weekend so we tape something ahead of time... and I figure, since he's there - let's do that interview idea I had. Hats & Minigolf turns out so good, so natural... I realize this is tv ready. So I throw the Gedde episode to some people and wouldn't you know - I get bites. Jim O'Heir from NBC's Parks & Rec loves it, does an episode - is PERFECT. Joel Murray from MadMen? He's awesome. Even Mayor Goldie Wilson does an episode and we do the second half in his FRICKIN' PLANE. I have enough to make a legit pitch to some networks in 2015 and oh yeah! The kids are alive! YAY. Somehow Talya and I actually did survive the absolute CHAOS that is babies less than 15 months apart. Holy shit, never doing that again. But wow, what was supposed to just be a year of survival turned into taking on a ton of projects and knocking them out of the park. So excited for 2015 I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think it's the excitement only a free man can feel, a free man at the start of a long journey whose conclusion is uncertain.

I find it remarkable I can still write that 15 years later and mean every, single letter of it.

So truly, things couldn't be better. Things are lined up. Clearly still need a few more pieces to make it all happen but I'm not kidding when I say "Hats & Minigolf" is something with legs and that I've really found a uniquity I didn't know I had. The ability to interview in such a relatable fashion that it feels like two friends hanging out. That's exciting and 2015 is full of wonder.

Of course, yes, it's the "Back to the Future" year and there's a part of me that can still remember the joy and wonder from watching Back to the Future 2 in 1989. It's actually a bit of a bummer that RentTheDelorean.com has kind of muddied the memory for me since it's ALLLLLLLLL business now, but I'm thankful it is a business that is working and I couldn't be happier that it's basically running itself now.

Alright, we made it Talya! The last month or so has already been a little easier now that they're just a wee bit older and I am so happy to NEVER have to do certain parts of this year over again. WHHHHHHHHHHHEW.

Happy New Year.
