Cool how the numbers worked out wth the entry and subject, right? Yay Journey Gods. Anyway...

Annnnnnnnnnd in the end...

Gotta dig the ol' Camry in the background with the 4tvs.com plates...

So I guess the only surprising thing about this is that it happened in 2012. Other than a surprise set-up in 2006 for America's Got Talent, they hadn't been used since 2004. When it came time to do 4tvs in 2009 for Comedy Central, I went HD... but to say these TVs meant something to me is to say the very least. A story I've told several times has to be told again...

When I got the idea for 4tvs it stayed in idea land until I just handed a credit card over at Sun TV in Columbus in late 1998 and spent more money than I had buying these 4 TVs. It was such a vivid moment that when the cashier grabbed the card I held onto it just a little bit longer (ha, just like Jordan held onto that shot earlier in the year) and finally let go. I knew there was no turning back. It was the first $1000 of what would end up being $10,000 I put into the idea of 4tvs that brought me to LA a year later. For a newly turned 23 year old with a very stable job in radio, this was a huge risk and I sunk everything into it. Incredibly, only the second time the TVs were even turned on I was making $250 a night (Christ, I'd love to make that playing out now) and soon I gave it all up to move to Hollywood. Just, wow. This is why I set them up in the corner of my house and smiled when I walked past them every day. They were the embodiment of pursuing your dreams...

...and are now death traps hanging from the sky as I imagine a kid running around. Clearly we have time before that, but I need to replace the windows and, well, it's just time. So here it is... the end of the original 4tvs:

And that's the wonderful thing about The Journey. As long as there's a video of it? I'm happy to let them go. Really. I really am. I'm totally cool with it. (sigh)

I honestly am. I'm so goddamned excited and appreciative of having a baby that I'm getting rid of everything. Nesting is fun. As I've said before I just never thought I'd get to have a family so some outdated TVs that could literally kill a grown adult don't seem too hard to let go of...

...but make no mistake - they brought me here. I'm glad I sawed off the backs of 'em. It'll make a cool framed-type thingee.

And now for the rest of the windows in the house (sigh).
