All I could
think the past 3 days is that we have to terrorize our
children by taking them here and boring the
ever-loving shit out of them. I can already hear
them talking to their friends. "OMG we're going to
Solvang where mom and dad went on their honeymoon back
in 1990 or something. It's the worst." I kinda really
want to be the Griswolds, except my idea of a vacation
is doing absolutely nothing... somewhere else in the
world. So I have my work cut out for me. Here is
Solvang:
I meant the
tongue of the shoe. Seriously. What did you
think?
;)
So not really a
honeymoon as much as a few days break without any
responsibilities (which my house always is because
there's always something I can fix) laying around
and eating. A lot. I gained 12 pounds people. At the
wedding I was 172, I came back at 184. Y'all have
no idea how fucking hard it is for me to maintain my
155 "Comedy Central" size. It's just ridiculous. But,
I'll start running again and I'll get into the 160s in
a month or so. Or I won't.
<shrugs>
I wanted to
take this entry however to thank a couple people
associated with the wedding that I never got the
chance to in the entries...
Rhonda Beer
(officiant)
Was this a
friend of the family? Someone that knew Talya for
years? No. We met her once and hired her on the
spot. Still not realizing how personal she would
make the day feel and really... just how good she
was at improving and feeling the moments. She could
tell Talya and I were having fun and madly in love
and she just went with it. Her huge smile lit up
the room and after the ceremony she wasn't done.
She was directing stuff left and right, making sure
we were taken care of (even handing us the napkin
for the hora dance), she really, really, really
helped make the day special. She will forever be in
our favorite video ever and again, I cannot
thank her enough. If you're in California and need
a non-denominational officiant, pleeeeeeeeeeease
look up Rhonda.
Matt Gudis
(DJ)
I don't
think I've ever liked any wedding DJ. Most
are serviceable but something usually turns me off
at some point in the night. Probably has something
to do with being around my father who DJ'd for
years. And when picking our DJ, ya kinda just have
to go with recommendations but when meeting with
Matt, he was likeable and knowledgeable. What we
got however was someone with a perfect read of the
crowd on what to play, how to get things going, how
to direct the crowd during ceremonial dances and
simply directing the entire night. People were
always dancing and on a Wednesday night? That's
very impressive. Again, if you're in California and
need a DJ, don't hesitate to contact
Matt.
Andrew Thomas
(videographer)
When the
"professional" wedding photographer got the day
wrong and came 3 hours late missing all the family
pictures and the outdoor pictures we had planned?
Andrew saved the day by not only shooting the
wonderful phone call to said photographer, but he
took some outdoor pictures for us that will be the
only ones we ever have...
Thank you so
much...
Of course there
were tons of people that made that day special, but
I really felt the need to highlight those 3
because quite simply? They were pointed out to both me
and Talya for being exceptional throughout the night.
The DJ especially.
So now we get back
to normal life and try our best to not constantly
flaunt our happiness. We're not ashamed of it by any
means, but we're both much more than our relationship
and we're ready to get working on those aspects... and
sharing those with you as opposed to the
constant:
"HOLY SHIT WE'RE SO GODDAMN HAPPY WITH OUR LIVES".
:) I'm sure plenty of you are looking forward to
that.
