Entry #1096

1:59 PM, November 22nd 2010:

While googling symptoms of "narcissistic personality disorder" it occured to me, shouldn't that be number one? Googling narcissism. HA.

Thankfully, after reading everything this will turn out to be a very funny entry. Prompted by someone else's therapist diagnosing me through her description. <shrugs> Whatever helps you is fine by me. It's why I've never had an issue with even the craziest religions... until they start tellin' ME what to do. Which, in this case, it sort of did - so I tooak a deep breath and readied myself for the big epiphany I was about to research. Figured I'd make an entry about it because most people would absolutely NOT face something this close to home. I mean, it's Adam & The EGOS for a reason, the last thing I can do is sit here and act like I don't think highly of myself. But someone just called me out, and I'm a big boy and happy admit I have some wiring issues upstairs. Let's see...

A person with narcissistic personality disorder:

* Reacts to criticism with rage, shame, or humiliation
Alright, can easily say this one doesn't apply to me. I BEG for criticism and when I get it I usually share it with everyone I can to get as much information as possible. Kinda like writing an entry like this. Devil's advocate: Isn't begging for criticism narcissistic? :)

* Takes advantage of other people to achieve his or her own goals
Oh I fuckin' wish I had this. HA.
* Has feelings of self-importance
* Exaggerates achievements and talents
* Is preoccupied with fantasies of success, power, beauty, intelligence, or ideal love
* Has unreasonable expectations of favorable treatment
* Requires constant attention and admiration
* Disregards the feelings of others, lacks empathy
* Has obsessive self-interest
* Pursues mainly selfish goals
